Mental Health Service User Case Study

Psychological well-being Service User Case Study 1.1 Decision making by attendants is currently immovably settled practically speaking, arrangement and instructive plans. New continually advancing, jobs, and a strategy setting that is testing conventional expert limits imply that, like never before, medical caretakers are being given self-rule and capacity to have the option to practice their choice options (Thompson, 2001). 1.2 Clinical dynamic might be characterized as having an assortment of choices and decisions and a procedure that medical caretakers attempt during their ordinary exercises while thinking about assistance clients. It normally includes medical attendants making decisions about the consideration that they give to support clients (Thompson et al, 2002). Likewise ONeill et al (2005) contends that clinical dynamic is a mind boggling action that requires attendants and other wellbeing experts to be learned in applicable parts of nursing, to approach dependable wellsprings of data and to work in a steady situation. 1.3 Shared dynamic then again is an intelligent community process that happens between the attendant and the administration client that is utilized to settle on human services choices. Adams and Drake (2006) note that in shared dynamic the medical caretaker turns into a specialist to the administration client, assisting with giving data, to talk about choices, to explain qualities and inclinations and to help the administration clients self-sufficiency (p.88). 1.4 Policy changes and patterns in proficient advancement inside the most recent decade have repeated the significance that attendants and other important wellbeing experts need to perceive that the choices they have directly affect social insurance results and administration clients encounters (DH, 2000). 1.5 Decisions can be handily analyzed as choice trees which give an exceptionally successful structure inside which a wide range of choices can be investigated (Goetz, 2010). Goetz (2010) further contends that the choice tree urges individuals to thoroughly consider their choices, to act deliberately and with thought. It has likewise been recommended by Corcoran (1986, refered to in Bonner, 2001, p.350) that the choice tree can give an unmistakable structure which assists with surveying a scope of activities that wellbeing experts may pick when settling on choices in regards to the consideration and treatment of a help client. 1.6 interestingly, Bonner (2001) contends that the choice tree is under investigated inside the extent of emotional wellness practice. He recognizes that the utilization of the choice tree by and by permits medical attendants to analyze the choices accessible to them in more detail, while likewise considering the intricate factors that impact the dynamic procedure. 1.7 It would be normal that the choice tree is progressively organized and ranges a particular timeframe which will be resolved inside the Justifications segment of this report. 2. Technique 2.1 The motivation behind this report is to distinguish an assistance client with whom one was at present working with practically speaking. Utilizing a choice tree, the administration clients excursion will be nitty gritty from their present wellbeing needs from the purpose of referral to psychological well-being administrations to the current point in time. When the choice tree is framed, it will at that point be basic to recognize up to three basic choice focuses and break down the dynamic procedure for every choice picked. 2.2 The data required to shape the choice tree is to be accumulated during an hour long unstructured meeting with the administration client, which can be thought of as a guided discussion. The explanation that this sort of technique will be used is on the grounds that unstructured meetings permit a specific spotlight on explicit regions through asking open-finished inquiries yet in addition take into account tests and follow-up inquiries to be utilized so as to viably get more data to build the choice tree as precisely as could be expected under the circumstances (Streubert Carpenter, 1999). 2.3 In request to guarantee that the data assembled is exact, it will be helpful to frame a life saver with the administration client, taking a gander at significant life occasions and choices that have been made. This life saver can be found in Appendix 1. 2.4 It will likewise be fundamental to investigate the administration clients clinical notes (with their assent) so as to increase a more clear thought of occasions that have happened, the essential choice focuses and whether administration client contribution was obvious all through. 2.5 The choice tree that was framed can be found in Appendix 2. 3. Support 3.1 The administration client that will give the focal point of this report will be alluded to as Sarah (a bogus name so as to look after privacy). 3.2 Sarah is a 43-year old woman who has a finding of marginal character issue. She has had different admissions to mental units including affirmations under the Mental Health Act (See Appendix 3 for supporting data). 3.3 Sarah was picked in light of the fact that it was felt that the she would have the option to give a decent history and record of occasions that have happened in her past according to the consideration and treatment that she has gotten. Sarah was likewise esteemed to have limit and was accordingly reasonable to participate inside this bit of work. 3.4 The timescale that the choice tree spreads will center upon a 6-year history whereby Sarah started her first contact with grown-up intense emotional wellness administrations. This will be investigated up to the current point in time. 3.5 During the get-together of data, both essential and auxiliary sources were utilized. Essential sources allude to direct records of occasions that have happened (for example meet with administration client). In correlation, auxiliary sources allude to data that has just been recorded from an earlier time (for example clinical/nursing notes). It was chosen to utilize the two sources as they would give data more extravagant in legitimacy and guarantee the unwavering quality of the discoveries. 3.6 The report will cross the limits between in-quiet consideration and network administrations inside the North of England. The key choice focuses that have been decided for examination inside this report were picked in light of the fact that it was obvious that a few choices had a specific level of administration client inclusion in correlation with others whereby administration client contribution didn't appear to be available. This does anyway acquaint a discussion in respects with administration client contribution on the grounds that those choices that didn't include Sarah and that were made for her benefit, can be contended were made to the greatest advantage of the individual for example admission to clinic to guarantee Sarahs security and prosperity. 3.7 Each of the choices will currently be independently dissected with a particular concentration upon the choice itself, the issues that they may include and the ideas that they may present. 4. Alluded and taken onto caseload with a Community Mental Health Team following entryway keeping evaluation (See Appendix 4) 4.1 Sarah was alluded to her nearby network psychological well-being group following a visit to her General Practitioner (GP) whom was stressed over oneself hurting musings that Sarah was right now encountering. The General Practitioner was extremely worried about Sarahs evident decay in her emotional wellness, in this way he felt that it was important to allude her to the network psychological well-being group who might then have the option to offer appraisal and work starting there onwards. The GP examined this with Sarah who admitted to being somewhat worried in advance anyway after a brief period whereby she had the option to consider her present conditions, Sarah was pleasant to this. 4.2 Borg et al (2009) contends that administration client contribution has a critical criticalness particularly for people that work inside a network emotional well-being setting as this includes getting to patients in their own homes (p.285). Sarah felt that she had built up a decent affinity with her locale mental medical caretaker since Sarah was constantly offered decisions as far as her consideration and treatment and she felt effectively engaged with the choices that were made. The remedial relationship that was created among Sarah and her locale mental medical caretaker additionally assumed a crucial job in Sarahs care as Reynolds and Scott (2000) contend that it is through this helpful relationship that we can survey the requirements of the patients that we work with and afterward plan future consideration to aid their recuperation. 4.3 A significant thought is the potential hazard engaged with keeping up Sarahs psychological well-being in the network. This was plainly recorded inside Sarahs treatment plan with explicit activities delineated and emergency contact numbers gave to both Sarah and her Husband. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (2009) gives direction on chance evaluation in patients with a conclusion of impulsive character issue. It educates that the hazard evaluation should happen as a feature of a full appraisal of the patients needs and this is actually what happened because of the significant level of hazard included and possible self-mischief of Sarah inside the network. 4.4 The principle impacts behind the choice to make a referral to the nearby network psychological well-being group was Sarahs security and that she was so ready to look after this. Likewise if the GP felt that Sarah required a medical clinic affirmation and there were no emergency clinic beds accessible, at that point a referral to the network psychological wellness group or emergency goals would be vital. This in this manner would demonstrate that care and treatment is reliant upon what assets are accessible at that particular time. 4.5 In request to guarantee that the right choices are made, the particular group must have a powerful administration style and an assortment of abilities among colleagues. The New Ways of Working practice usage direct (DH, 2007) traces how a group can successfully accomplish their most extreme potential. With the end goal for this to be accomplished, various estimates must be tended to which incorporate; Centering upon abilities and coordinating these to the requirements of administration clients; Circulating obligation reasonably among the group as opposed to

Assessment Writing (Intellectual Property Law) - Essay Example rge organizations frequently work so as to engage needs and needs of tip top social class as a result of its higher purchasing power while, littler contenders work so as to provide food commercialization of center and lower classes of the network. 6. The first has its eyes fixed on development industry though, the subsequent one is creating toys for kids and any sensible man will ask by what means would loge be able to defeat Clinker’s piece of the overall industry or hurt its image picture since they are not focusing on development chiefs to purchase their items. 7. In basic terms, it is franticness to think about Loge as a contender for Clinker. The courtroom will probably say that Loge has no obvious goal to hurt Clinker and on the off chance that they need to, at that point they can't do that as a result of absence of assets and pertinent market technique. 8. All the more unmistakably, Loge has no far off arrangement to enter development industry and then again, Clinker has no designs to deliver toys for kids in future and when they grow such key blueprints then they are generally free to take on the legitimate conflict out up to that point they ought to stay content with one another. Clinker will be beneficial by not discharging the weapon on Loge and that advantage will be talked about at a later phase of the paper. 2. Be that as it may, the case can be recorded under Section 8 of American Constitution. Be that as it may, the use of the law will be risky, best case scenario since it is just rational not to consider Clinker and Loge as contenders on the grounds that the law expresses that contenders can't reserve the option to duplicate each others’ hues and logos as it will make them destroy brand picture and piece of the overall industry. 4. The case won't remain on strong legitimate grounds in the official courtroom while, the Loge will most presumably leave with the logo and both the

The Trial’s Account of Inevitable Failure and Death - Literature Essay Samples

In The Trial, Franz Kafka tells the story of Joseph K., a man under persecution of the law. The novel begins with the arrest of K., which inducts him into a seemingly bizarre legal system. The arrest proves peculiar, as K. is never told what he is accused of and is not detained to a jail. In the following months, the case continues to reveal strange aspects of the bureaucracy that controls K.’s trial. For an entire year, K. is consumed by the trial and makes efforts to fight his case and obtain information about the legal system. Ultimately, the fight is ended through his execution with most questions left unanswered. This leaves one to wonder what Kafka intended The Trial to mean in a larger sense. One interpretation may suggest that Kafka conveys a message of the meaning of life, in that one does not exist. K.’s actions and experiences during the trial illustrate that life is meaningless and to continuously fight this idea and search for a substantial purpose is futil e. Despite efforts to fight this conclusion, humans are all inevitably destined to failure. Accordingly, Kafka uses K.’s character to illustrate how one should not live, given this view. A central aspect of The Trial is K.’s persistence and obsession regarding the case. From the start, K. goes through the trial with a combative attitude, as he tries to fight against the Law and obtain information. Beginning with the arrest, K. assertively questions officials about his charges, and continues to search for answers as the case progresses. By the time the first interrogation is scheduled, K. seems prepared for battle. Prior to this event K. decides that, â€Å"The case was getting under way and he must fight it† (32). Upon arrival at the interrogation, K. takes the liberty to bestow a long speech that essentially criticizes the legal system by referring to his experience as â€Å"representative of a misguided policy which is being directed against many other peopl e† (42). Before leaving the court however, the examining magistrate in charge of the meetings tells K. he has eliminated the normal advantages that a defendant would be allowed. In this instance, K.’s efforts to fight against the system prove useless. Following the interrogation K. grows increasingly paranoid. Although he is not detained or required to attend regular hearings, K. seems obsessed with fighting the law. Even during work at the Bank, K. is distracted as â€Å"the thought of the case never [leaves] him now† (113). Evidence of his paranoia, he goes so far as to plan a statement that would account for his entire life and serve in his defense. K. suggests feeling as though his whole life is on trial, although he has received no evidence to support such an idea. It becomes apparent he feels consumed by the case and trapped within the legal system. At one point, K. describes his recent pattern of spending time by the window, looking outside. While seemi ngly insignificant, it may be symbolic of K.’s choice to remain on the â€Å"inside† of the system feeling oppressed, while he still has the ability to remain freely on the â€Å"outside†. Although K. obsesses over the case, there is no law in place that prevents his freedom to continue with his daily business outside the imaginary confines of the trial. However, K spends time attempting to defend himself, and despite this fixation, makes no progress. Perhaps Kafka means to convey the idea that it is pointless to continuously evaluate and revaluate troublesome aspects of life, as this is a waste of time. K. may serve as an example of how not to live in that his paranoia only led to feelings of entrapment, but ultimately no progress. In the meantime he misses out on life outside of his case. Another main aspect of The Trial is the peculiar bureaucracy with which K. interacts. For the most part, the legal forces that have power remain inaccessible. The officials, such as the warden in K.’s arrest, talk of their superiors, but whom these people are is never revealed. This faceless system makes it difficult for K. to obtain information that could be helpful. In addition, there are aspects to the legal system that make advancement seem impossible. A fellow defendant, Block, tells K. that it is difficult to see the progress of an ongoing case. In fact, the legal system is revealed to show that defendants have very little control in the outcome of their trials. Although not yet resigned to this conclusion, K. at one point entertains, â€Å"only cases predestined from the start to succeed came to a good end, which they would have reached in any event without your help, while every other one of the others was doomed to fail in spite of all your maneuvers† (122). Therefore, despite all efforts, the fate of the trial is out of his hands. Logically, if it is impossible to control the case among an unreachable bureaucracy, all efforts to do so are useless, and time could be better spent. Ultimately, Kafka develops a legal structure that renders K and other defendants powerless. This system may serve to parallel the human inability to control many aspects of life, particularly the ultimate outcome. In addition to the inaccessible bureaucracy, K.’s interaction with the priest provides further insight into The Trial’s meaning. The priest, who serves the Court as a prison chaplain, tells K. the story of a man who spends his life waiting to gain â€Å"admittance to the Law† (213). A doorkeeper stands by, but does not allow the man to enter. The man waits at the door for the rest of his life, but is ultimately never admitted. Although never allowed admittance, the man is told that, â€Å"the door was intended for you† (215). Thus, there is no reason for him to be denied entrance, which further emphasizes his lack of control in the situation. As the priest explains, it is important to understan d the man is not forced to wait there at any point. The man could simply leave to live the remainder of his life in the country, as he has no control over his inevitable failure, and in turn wastes valuable time. Similarly, K. voluntarily spends his life focused on the law, but regardless his efforts have no effect on the ultimate outcome. Before leaving the cathedral, K. is confused as to why the priest seems indifferent towards his actions. The priest then explains that he too is part of the court, and the court does not want anything from him. Referring to the court, he tells K. that it â€Å"receives you when you come and it dismisses you when you go† (222). The legal system is not formed to require his efforts, and on the whole his actions are inconsequential. A possible message conveys that it does not matter what one does in an attempt to change the outcome of life. Just as the court is not built to allow for human interference, all life ends the same regardless, and t here is no need to â€Å"interfere† in an attempt to change this. Suppose Kafka believes there is no meaning to life. Thus, life is not built to allow for a search to find one. There is no need to spend abundant time, as the efforts will always end in failure, since no purpose exists. For the year after his arrest, K. continues to fight and contemplate his case. Then, on the night before his birthday, he is killed. Two men enter his room and take him to a quarry where one of them stabs him in the heart, a seemingly painful death. While walking outside, K. does not fight to get away after he realizes, â€Å"[the] futilities of resistance† (225). Thus, it is not until this point, after an entire year, that K. finally relinquishes efforts to fight back. Prior to the stabbing, K. sees the figure of a person in the distance. This prompts many questions about who the figure is, if they are to help him, and where the judge has been. K. never finds the answers to any of his que stions, nor does he discover what crime he is accused of. The death is significant in that it shows K. is doomed to be killed right from the start. As previously argued, his efforts in the case were ineffective, so there was no way to control the final outcome. The final execution is perhaps most essential to Kafka’s message in that it may highlight how, after a meaningless life, everyone is destined to death. K. never understands the meaning of his trial and even if he had, death was inevitable. Perhaps life has no meaning, and to spend countless hours pondering this topic is a waste of time. Exemplifying resistance in life is also useless as failure is inevitable since everyone is destined to die regardless. Overall, it is possible to view The Trial as a message to reveal the meaning of life. One may argue Kafka decides there is no meaning, and everyone is destined to failure from the start, as a greater purpose cannot be found. Although K. works on his case to the point of obsession, no progress is made. Upon his death, he has not found answers to any questions regarding the case and was unable to prove his innocence. Kafka may express the idea that failure is inevitable despite efforts of resistance. One cannot fight against the ultimate outcome to life as everyone eventually dies. While Kafka’s personal experiences may have led him to this rather depressing conclusion about life, K. perhaps serves as an example of how a person should not live, given this deduction. Never imprisoned, K. feels compelled to obsess over the case and fight back with every effort possible. It is not until right before his death he realizes the struggle is useless. While it is impossible to control ultimate doom, one may recognize it is important to choose to go about life, without being consumed by an inability to find meaning. Perhaps in The Trial, Kafka communicates his belief that life is empty of meaning, always to end in death and failure to discover a greate r purpose. Therefore it is important to do something with life while that is still possible – to spend days actually living is a much better use of time then to feel trapped in the constant burden of the inevitable.

The Australian Constitution And The Use Of Convention Essay

The Constitution of Australia is a written document, which came into effect when the six colonies federated to form the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. It consists of eight chapters and 128 sections and lays down a set of laws or restraints by which the Federal Government must operate. It establishes the composition, procedures, functions, and powers of government, government authorities, such as the Governor General and other essential institutions. The Constitution is the basic framework for a civilised and well-governed Australia. However in the recent past, reason for parliamentary and federal concern has been thrust into the limelight. In addition, there has been a growing need for judicial interpretation and the ever-present†¦show more content†¦Chapter 8, the final chapter, describes the process by which the constitution may be changed. Despite the Constitution’s role as the structure of Australian political procedure and indeed the very fabric of Australian society, in the past there have been reasons for federal and parliamentary concern. The growing number of Federal powers and the diminishing number of states powers, is of immense concern to the state parliaments. A great many Commonwealth powers, under section 51, are concurrent with those of the states, and it is by this that the Commonwealth has been able to extend its control. Section 109 states that if Commonwealth legislation conflicts with state legislation, the Commonwealth immediately takes precedence, thus encroaching on what was once state political territory. In recent years there has also been growing concern over the role and powers of the Senate. Under section 53 the Senate is not able to introduce or amend money or taxation legislation, these powers reside in the H of Reps alone. In all other aspects the Senate is on equal terms with the H of Reps. However the Senate can simply reject, defer or refuse to pass money bills. The implications of this are massive, without the Supply Bills, there is no money for government or the Public Service. The powers of the governor general have also caused some unease. A Comparison of the Divine in Gilgamesh, the Old...

The Divine in Gilgamesh, The Old Testament, and Metamorphoses Along with different languages, customs and traditions, ancient Hebrews, Middle-easterners and Romans had very different beliefs about the divine. For example, Hebrews are monotheistic, while Middle-easterners and Greco-Romans of early time periods believe in many gods. Writings from the ancient time period sketch these differences, as well as the many similarities between religious beliefs. The Old Testament is an excellent reference depicting Hebrew beliefs, while Gilgamesh outlines many Middle-eastern beliefs, and The Metamorphoses shows readers many ancient Greco-Roman beliefs about the divine. Jonahs punishment for disobeying God was less brutal. He was swallowed by a fish and lived in his belly for three days and nights (96). Though God punishes sinners, He has infinite justice (47). Unlike the Hebrew beliefs of the divine, ancient middle-eastern religion did not focus on one specific god. The epic Gilgamesh describes many gods, such as Shamash, the sun god whom endowed Gilgamesh with extreme beauty (18), Enlil, the god of wind and storm (18), and Anu, the god of Uruk (19). In the epic, these divine creators endowed Gilgamesh with extraordinary strength, courage and beauty (17). Along with these great characteristics, he was more god than man (17), Two thirds they made him god and one third man (19). The fact that Gilgamesh is part god and part human differs from the Hebrew beliefs as well; because Hebrews believe that no one can be part god. Though there are many differences between the Hebrew God and middle-eastern beliefs of the divine, Gilgamesh also depicts some similarities. Sumerian gods respond to prayers from the Uruk citizens that Gilgamesh is an unjust ruler by creating Enkidu, the

Short Story Who I Trust Essay Example For Students

Short Story Who I Trust Essay Throughout my whole life my mother would always tell me, â€Å"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. † I never understood what she meant, or what she was trying to tell me. But as I have grown older, I know what she was trying to say. Growing up as a child I was always shy and kept to myself. Because of that I didn’t have very many friends. But I will never forget the day where I thought I made a friend. Not only that, but a best friend. It was a sunny, cool, April morning, I was on my way to school, going through my usual routine. As I walked into the school, through the cafeteria and into the gym I felt like all eyes were watching me. I never did like being the center of attention. Looking into the sea of kids, I found my seventh grade class and made my way to the bleachers to wait for the morning bell to ring. But what I didn’t know is there was a surprise, not only for the class, but for me. At the very top of those purple painted bleachers, in a corner, sat a girl I had never seen before. She had long, brown, wavy hair, green eyes, and she was wearing a blue shirt with sparkles all over it. She looked secluded from the rest of the people and seemed shy, just like me. Suddenly, the bell rang, dismissing all the kids from the gym to go to their class rooms. I tried to find the girl I had seen, but she disappeared into the crowd with everybody else. As I was walking down the hallway, I wondered who the girl was, and where she was going. I turned the corner, walked through the door to my class room and I saw her sitting there, her chair right next to mine. At first I was nervous to go sit down because I didn’t think she would like me. But when I finally got the nerve to go to my chair, she smiled at me. When our teacher, Mr. Smith, finally came into the room, he said in a very excited voice, â€Å"Class, we have a new student, her name is Kelsey,† and pointed to the girl sitting next to me. Kelsey and I quickly became close to each other. We were even best friends, that’s how we introduced ourselves to everyone. We were always partners in class for school projects. I remember doing the egg drop project for our Science class. Our egg smashed into a million pieces when it hit the ground. We didn’t win, but we didn’t care, because we had so much fun doing it. We would hang out outside of school, too. Normally, we would go to the park and swing, or play basketball, other times we would just walk around town trying to find something to do. Our bubbly friendship lasted throughout most high school. Until one cold, cloudy day in December, I found out who she really was. In the beginning, it seemed like any other day. We walked to the bus stop together, sat by each other on the bus, and walked back home from school that afternoon, everything seemed normal. We went back to her house, where I flopped down on the couch and started watching a reality TV show called â€Å"Jersey Shore†. Kelsey was in the bathroom getting ready. Changing her clothes and doing her hair and makeup. She had told me that her mother was taking her out for dinner that night, to a really fancy restaurant. Out of nowhere, I heard a ringing noise, ring, ring, and ring. It seemed like it lasted forever. Finally, Kelsey yelled at me to answer it. Without thinking I picked up the phone and said, â€Å"Hello? † but what happened next put me in shock. The person on the other end of the phone said, â€Å"Hey babe†, but the voice sounded very familiar, it sounded like my boyfriend. I thought my heart had dropped to my stomach. .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf , .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf .postImageUrl , .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf , .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf:hover , .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf:visited , .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf:active { border:0!important; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf:active , .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u91b3d9440a677535aa9278282c825edf:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: A Monk Swimming, by Malachy McCourt and The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls EssayI felt surprised, scared, and angry, all at once. I didn’t know what to do or what to say, so I hung up the phone. In a rush, I got back on the phone to check the number in the incoming calls log, and sure enough, that’s who it was, my boyfriend. Not really sure what to do at that point I went running out of the house and I remember hearing Kelsey yell my name, but I wouldn’t turn around. Even though it was cold outside, the wind hitting my face was hot. I felt sick to my stomach. I wasn’t sure where I was running to, I was just trying to get as far away as possibl e. Eventually, I found myself at home, crying. For the next couple of days I ignored Kelsey and my boyfriend. I wouldn’t reply to their calls or text messages, I even skipped school for those days just so I wouldn’t have to see Kelsey. I had never been in this kind of situation before, so I wasn’t sure how to react. I didn’t want to lose my best friend, but I didn’t want a backstabber for a friend either. So, I went searching for advice, and I found it, in my mother. She told me, â€Å"Don’t ever let anyone run you over, stand up for yourself. You do want you want, you make your own decisions, but most importantly, do what makes you happy. That evening I was up all night, tossing and turning, trying to figure out what to do with the situation I was in. Then, out of nowhere, it clicked in my head, I knew what to do. The next morning I woke up, and getting ready for school, I was rehearsing what I was going to say to Kelsey. I will never forget this day. I walked outside and, even though it was December, it felt warm. The sun was shining bright, the snow was melting, and birds where chirping. And in that moment, I felt like I had the world on my side. I finally made it to the school. I walked straight to Kelsey’s locker, where she tried to greet me with a smile. But once she seen the anger in my face, her smile disappeared. I told her exactly how I felt, how I trusted her more than anybody, and how she was supposed to be my best friend. She tried to apologize, but I didn’t give her the chance. I didn’t want to hear any excuses. At the end of my rant, I finally told her I was done with her, and that I didn’t want to be friends with a lying backstabber. When I turned to walk away from her, I felt like I was out of breath, but I also had the feeling of relief. I had finally gotten all my anger out of my system, and I felt good about it. I was more confident than I ever had been. To this day, I still do not talk to Kelsey. It was hard for me to trust other people again, so it was hard for me to make new friends and be in a good relationship. But I learned that not everybody is like Kelsey and my ex-boyfriend. I have learned to trust again, but I have also learned to choose my friends wisely. She changed the way I seen her as a person, and how I see others. Even though our friendship ended badly, she helped me realize the people I want to be friends with and the people I want in my life. I now understand what my mother was trying to tell me all those years growing up. And I will never forget it.
